Restaurant/places to eat in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

Of all the places we’ve stayed in Japan, Hakone Tent had the best vibe. Friendly staff and friendly travellers, with the option to be sociable (eat and drink in the bar area, which has books, board games, a hammock and piano etc). The room we stayed in was warm, beautiful and traditional. The property is located a 1 min walk from Gora station which was a perfect base for us, and it has parking which was handy for us as we drove in from Fuji Five Lakes area. The onsen was very relaxing! The property was peaceful; we didn’t hear any noise at night.

Food in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

Memorable trip with a beautiful room and mountain view. We got the apartment all to ourselves and it was very nice to have such a big private space. Our first time trying an onsen and it was great (a little shockingly hot) but still great experience. The traditional Japanese futons were extremely comfortable and we had a great night's rest after exploring. Makes us want to have those beds at home. Very friendly and accommodating staff, they made us feel right at home. Also good food served at the bar.

Lounge or bar in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

We wanted a place with onsen and tatami and therefore landed to this place. The best part is it's location which is near Gora Station - to me it's like a centre point where you could take the train to Hakone-Yumoto or take the cable car and continue your sightseeing journey to Owakudani via the ropeway. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there's a nice dining bar behind the reception which looks cosy and inviting, a great placed to chill and make friends. There's shared kitchen and free coffee & tea.

Property building in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

The guesthouse was just a short walk from Gora station so it was really convenient. I loved that the room was cosy and looked traditional. There were two window seats and the views were beautiful. There was a sakura tree right in front of my window but unfortunately it had not bloomed during my stay. Loved that there’s private onsen though it looked dark and quite creepy to be accessed alone. The staff were warm and friendly too.

Restaurant/places to eat in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

I had a splendid stay in Hakone Tent. Having my own room was a blessing and I loved the little touches with the lantern lighting & little window teasing a sneak peek of the mountains. The 2 private onsens were why I chose this place. They are tattoo friendly as someone who is heavily tattooed which I highly appreciate. I had the pleasure of trying the eggplant & cheese pizza with a side of Ume plum wine for dinner and it was so delicious. I would love to visit again sometime in the future if I visit Hakone.

Facade/entrance in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

Amazing friendly staff and great facilities. The stone bath onsen was incredible after a long day out and about. Easy to get there from Gora Station. Walkable to the cable car up to Sounzan and Hakone Open Air Museum. Great restaurants and concenience stores nearby. Ear plugs provided for the thin wooden walls. Very highly recommended!

Food and drinks in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

The nicest staff ever! It was a HUGE open room for our family of four with a 12 and 14 year old. They loved the private spa and that we could hang out in the kitchen/shared space in the evening. The town is pretty sleepy and things close early. We enjoyed the cooler weather, enormo hydrangea, and taking the tram up the mountain to see Mt. Fuji and a lake in the area. This establishment has a coffee shop a minute away where I had a yummy oat milk latte and kids grabbed hot dogs. I know they say the walls are thin here, but people respected noise levels and didn't have any issues. Largest accommodation during our stay in Japan.

Food close-up in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

This was an absolutely perfect stay, the staff are all incredibly friendly and really make this place. They are always happy to help and really make you feel welcome. Location is great, 2 minute walk from the station that connects you all over Hakone - couldn’t have asked for a better location. Free use of the private Onsen and the gorgeous views from the room were just the cherry on top. Would highly recommend Hakone Tent to anyone!!

Lobby or reception in Onsen Guesthouse HAKONE TENT

We loved the accommodation, family of 4 sharing a room. Felt very authentic. Staff were lovely. Nice bar area, limited menu but tasty, good choice for drinks. They offered a natural onset which we used and enjoyed. Location was good, just a few minutes walk from the station. Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, but clean and private. Recommended after a stay in Tokyo. Get the Hakone Freepass and this is an ideal start for the railway, ropeway and pirate ship cruise.
